year in review

I did a lot more knitting this year than I have in the past, and I'm very happy about it. It's time to take a step back and take a look at the year.

WIPs finished:
  • baby blanket for E
  • Honeymoon socks for me
WIPs started and finished:
  • Christmas stocking for L
  • Viking hat for L
  • cabled hat for M
  • crocheted Katamari for G
  • a bunch of washcloths for various people
Plus I worked on (but haven't finished) several other projects, including a sweater for E, a Mario hat for E, and a felted bear that I started last millenium. I had hoped to finish a couple of other Christmas gifts, too, but had problems with both. I have the yarn for L's baby blanket (which I was supposed to start after finishing E's blanket), but it's still in hanks, as I didn't have the energy to start another big project.

I have sorted out much of my stash and put them in labeled boxes, again thanks to Ravelry. In some ways I was surprised at how much yarn I had, in other ways relieved because I thought I had more. I learned that I have a lot of single skeins of stuff, found a few things I had completely forgotten about, and was even able to part with a couple of skeins of sock yarn.

This fall I joined a local knitting group. Even though it's been around for awhile, I only found out about it recently, when I joined a local moms' group and found out that their knitting sub-club was defunct. I think getting together with other knitters each week has really helped me be more consistent with knitting (i.e. I take fewer hiatuses). Ravelry has also helped keeping my knitting drive up, since I get to show off FOs and track projects I want to make in the future.

Next stop: knitting resolutions for 2008!

my first entry

I have a blog that I share with family, but that's mainly about the kids. I thought it would be nice to have a separate blog for knitting and other non-kid stuff.
